|Park Name and Amenities
Named in honor of long-time Atoka resident, Alderman and dedicated park supporter Nancy Lane, Atoka's Nancy Lane Park is a center of activity throughout the year. The park offers several different recreational activities and hosts special events throughout the year.
At nearly 42 acres, Nancy Lane Park offers a host of recreational offerings in a fantastic setting just minutes from Atoka's commercial and residential districts. Nancy Lane Park features a wooded nature trail, a challenging 18-hole disc golf course, pond access and a 4-diamond softball complex. Nancy Lane Park is home to the Atoka Dixie Youth Softball program - the largest DYSB program in Tennessee - and served as host for the 2014 Dixie Youth Softball World Series.
A new playground opened at Nancy Lane Park in the spring of 2014. Funded in part with a grant from the State of Tennessee, the playground at NLP is the largest playground in the Atoka park system - featuring a raft swing, several slides and climbing structures, a misting station and Tipton County's only climbing matrix. The playground, fenced in for security, has a rubberized foam surface to minimize the risk of serious injury from falls on the playground. A video of the playground grand opening is available in the Atoka Event Videos section of this website.
Notable Places at Nancy Lane Park
Caboose - The caboose at Nancy Lane Park pays homage to the railroading history of Atoka. Situated at the main entrance to the park, it is a favorite backdrop for family photos throughout the year.
Disc Golf - Designed by disc golfers, for disc golfers, the disc golf course at NLP offers a challenging course that criss-crosses its way through wooded areas, across open fields and to the edge of the pond at the south end of the park. The signature hole on the course, # 7, features a basket that golfers won't want to overshoot - or they may end up in the water. The course, opened in 2013, continues to be refined and improved as additional play further defines the course layout.
Softball Complex - The hub of Nancy Lane Park is Atoka's 4 diamond softball complex. Recent improvements, including the $350,000 lighting system upgrade, make the NLP softball complex one of the premier softball facilities in the area. Atoka's Dixie Youth Softball program has called NLP home for generations and the park has hosted district, state and World Series tournaments since 2012.
Annual Events at Nancy Lane ParkAtoka Barbecue Festival - The Atoka BBQ Fest, an idea cooked up in 2012, was first held at NLP in 2013 with all the fanfare, great food and mud you would expect from a springtime barbecue festival in the mid South. Returning in 2014, the Atoka BBQ Fest has become the largest barbecue festival in Tipton County - attracting more than 60 teams in the Pro and Challenger Divisions. Photos from the 2014 Atoka BBQ Fest are available in the Atoka Event Photos section of this website.
Safe Night Out - An Atoka tradition, Safe Night Out at Nancy Lane Park offers kids of all ages a fun and safe way to celebrate Halloween. Free candy, hot dogs, drinks and more are provided to hundreds of guests throughout the event and free hayrides provide a unique perspective on NLP after dark.
