Named by students at Atoka Elementary in 2012, Pioneer Park offers a community gathering space in the center of the Blaydes and Williamsburg Estates subdivisions. At more than 6.5 acres, Pioneer Park is easily accessible to pedestrians and cyclists in Atoka's residential core. Pioneer Park features a 1/3 mile lit asphalt walking track, a small playground feature, benches and picnic tables. A nearly 2 acre pond with fountain feature is the central focus of the park, with the walking trail ringing the pond.
Notable Places at Pioneer ParkPioneer Park is the eastern end of the proposed Atoka Greenway Trail project - a 3/4 mile paved pedestrian and bicycle path connection the park to Walker Park on the western end of the trail. Once complete, the Greenway Trail will connect to walking tracks at both anchor parks, creating a 2.25 mile paved trail for users to enjoy.
Phase I of the Atoka Greenway Trail received a grant from the State of Tennessee in June of 2013. The first phase of the project will connect Walker Park to a trailhead at Elizabeth Drive by the Walker Parkway Fire Station.
